Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences, Botnar Research Centre, Windmill Road, Oxford Grade 8: £41,526 – £49,553 p.a. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Trials Programmer to join Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit (OCTRU) at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) based at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford. As a Senior Trials Programmer you will be involved in all stages of the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis, design and implementation, through to testing and maintenance. You will collaborate with the Head of OCTRU IT (HOIT) to define and shape the development roadmap and support software portfolio for OCTRU IT Systems. You will also be required to lead software development projects, to manage the contributions of other developers in the team, to come up with innovative solutions to complex problems, and to drive concepts through to practical realisation.
Additionally the postholder will manage the programming team (currently three developers and one systems administrator), advise and develop the OCTRU software portfolio, maintain, support and validate effective data entry and administrative systems primarily in PHP using the Laravel framework. You will have a high degree of autonomy, you will be expected to think proactively and exercise considerable initiative, and manage and motivate other members of staff.
You will be educated to a degree level, or hold a recognised computing qualification or equivalent experience. You will have the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects, prioritise short and long-term goals, and deliver within deadlines. Previous experience of providing computing support to randomised controlled trials, knowledge/experience of OpenClinica and/or REDCap and experience of using Laravel Framework and Drupal are desirable.
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 2 years.
