Group Remit
The Group aims to foster an open, collaborative, and supportive environment where data managers and IS professionals can exchange expertise and best practices. Our goal is to ensure the provision of robust, secure, and regulatory-compliant IT systems and processes in the non-commercial research environment.
We are committed to providing opportunities for knowledge sharing amongst member CTUs, and producing useful, targeted guidance for those working in academic research more broadly.
As part of our activities we:
- Hold an annual meeting for CTU representatives with invited speakers, networking opportunities, and poster sessions.
- Host regular webinars on areas as diverse as flexible development and automation, systems migration, and the use of Trusted Research Environments.
- Have a number of active user groups for common eDC systems, including regular engagement with the relevant providers.
- Host a Developers’ Forum to enable programmers to share common issues and solutions.
- Provide an email forum though which data management and IS representatives can access peer support.
Ongoing Work
We have a number of active workstreams developing:
- Guidance to share expertise and best practices involving data management
- Ways to promote the importance of the data management and IS function.
Outputs
The Group’s written guidance on aspects of data management, vendor assessments, and more can be found here, alongside a wealth of valuable resources from the wider Network and beyond.
Registered CTU staff members can also access an extensive library of recordings and materials from past meetings and webinars through the Secretariat.
