    Duties and Responsibilities

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is one of the most complex NHS trusts in the UK, serving a large and diverse population.

We provide academically-led acute and specialist services, to people from the local area, from throughout the United Kingdom and overseas.

Our vision is to deliver top-quality patient care, excellent education and world-class research. We provide first-class acute and specialist services across eight sites.

We are dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of many complex illnesses. UCLH specialises in women’s health and the treatment of cancer, infection, neurological, gastrointestinal and oral disease. It has world class support services including critical care, imaging, nuclear medicine and pathology.

This post provides an exciting opportunity for a medical trainee with a strong interest in Cancer to gain an extensive and varied training in oncology clinical trials. It is a clinical post to develop and support clinical research relating to Urological Cancer Clinical Trials.

The Clinical Research Fellow will be supervised by Dr Mark Linch on the Uro-oncology unit at UCLH. The Fellow is central to the safe and effective running of the trials portfolio and will be a sub-investigator on each study within the portfolio. However, it is envisaged that the post holder will have primary responsibility for the NEPTUNES study, a translational study of combination immunotherapy in molecularly selected prostate cancer patients.

The post is funded for 1 year and would suit core medical trainees considering a career in oncology or early specialist oncology trainees prior to undertaking a MD/PhD.

    Key Requirements

This Clinical Fellow post is critical to the effectiveness and development of the UCL Translational uro-oncology program and is also an excellent opportunity for the Fellow to gain  detailed and supported clinical trials training. The expected significant outputs include presentations at national and international meetings, co-authorship of peer-reviewed publications, grant applications and development of translational research skills.

The postholder will have completed core medical training or equivalent, have MRCP or equivalent and be eligible for full GMC Registration.  Oncology experience including the management of immunotherapy toxicity is essential.
