An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to work within the Manchester Clinical Trials Unit (Manchester CTU), providing clinical trial management support for clinical trials. The Manchester CTU is an essential core resource for clinical and academic investigators and provides a wide range of services supporting the conduct of investigator-initiated clinical trials across Greater Manchester, the North West and the UK. The Unit is a fully-registered UKCRC Clinical Trials Unit, and works in partnership with investigators across all disease types, phases of research and methodologies, in order to deliver high quality research.
You will have a primary responsibility for supporting the management and delivery of clinical trials, and will supervise and mentor trial coordinators assigned to these trials. You will be expected to work proactively with other key members of the trial teams such as data managers, statisticians, monitors, investigator site clinicians, site coordinators, research nurses, finance officers, NHS R&D offices and trial sponsor offices.
The post may also require close liaison with pharmaceutical partners and third party suppliers to ensure the provision of trial related medicinal products. A key element of this role is ensuring that the clinical trials meet the requirements of all legal and regulatory obligations and the Department of Health’s Research Governance Framework.
There is an expectation that you will actively contribute to the wider development of the Manchester CTU and to support the department’s infrastructure by ensuring studies are in line with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as required.
You will be educated to a degree level or equivalent, with experience in coordinating clinical trials, and an understanding of clinical research and trial management methodology.
You must be able to work independently, managing your own workload, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience of working with databases and spreadsheets is essential for this role.
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
