Southampton CTU (SCTU) is currently reviewing their monitoring infrastructure. As part of this, Andrea Corkhill (Head of Trial Management, SCTU, akc@soton.ac.uk) has spoken to a few other CTUs with monitoring groups separate to trial management staff, to discuss how the infrastructure works and what practice works well – and indeed what does not. As part of these discussions it has been suggested that a monitoring group could be established which all CTUs could nominate someone to; this at minimum could create an email group to share ideas and answer questions specific to monitoring. We acknowledge that some CTUs have monitoring represented by their staff on the QA group, but as this is not accurate for all it is not the best forum to cover specific monitoring issues
