Clinical Trials Operational Lead – Experimental Medicine and Rheumatology (141364)
Grade 8: Salary in the range of £40,792 – £48,677 per annum
Applications are invited for the position of a Clinical Trials Operational Lead – Experimental Medicine and Rheumatology to join the Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit (OCTRU) which is based in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) at the University of Oxford. Post will be based at The Botnar Research Centre on the Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital site, the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology and the new Clinical Research Facility on the Old Road Campus in Oxford .
As a Clinical Trials Operational Lead you will be responsible for the development and oversight of the growing portfolio of the Experimental Medicine and Rheumatology (EMR) group’s trials portfolio. You will lead and motivate a team of trial co-ordinators/managers and trial administrative staff responsible for the day to day conduct of complex trials including CTIMPs and regulated device trials. You will work with Chief Investigators, statisticians and other key collaborators to develop and submit outline and full research proposals for submission to national funding committees (e.g. HTA, MRC, EME, Wellcome) and collaborating commercial partners.
To support early phase clinical trials, a new clinical trial facility is being created on the Churchill Hospital site. This new facility will provide high quality facilities for the conduct of early phase clinical trials across disciplines. As this new facility is formed you will be expected to contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and ways of working that ensure efficient partnership between OCTRU and the trial facility with the highest standards of quality and subject safety.
You will hold a degree in a relevant biomedical or associated subject, with demonstrable experience of coordinating clinical trials. Experience of line managing clinical and non-clinical trial staff, including providing training on clinical research topics as well as an in-depth working knowledge of existing UK clinical research structures, GCP and regulatory and ethical systems are essential. Experience of CTIMP trials, experience of clinical research in rheumatology and/or inflammatory conditions and working knowledge of clinical research structures, ethical and regulatory systems in EU Member States are desirable.
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 3 years.
