An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Server Administrator/Systems Manager to join Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit (OCTRU) at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences based at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford.
As a Server Administrator/Systems Manager you will support OCTRU’s varied research projects through the creation and on-going support of highly scalable data centric applications. You will be responsible for the oversight, management, maintenance and security of the OCTRU servers, which hold all trial data. You will undertake the database administration including the backing up of the databases and application source control. You will ensure appropriate archiving of programming documentation, datasets and documented syntax programs for the trial as well as manage the installation and validation of the COTS used by OCTRU.
You will be educated to A level standard or equivalent. You will be highly competent and experienced in managing Windows and Linux servers. Understanding and proven experience using IT/web applications, experience of sysadmin using vCloud Director (or similar) and proven experience in a Systems Administrator/Management role are essential. Experience of web development using languages such as PHP, HTML, js, CSS, experience of administering Database Management Systems, ideally PostgreSQL and MySQL, ITIL certification to at least Foundation level are desirable.
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 3 years.
