    The Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit (OCTRU) based at the University of Oxford is currently recruiting a new lead.

    Head of Clinical Trial Statistics and CTU Associate Director (163129)

    Grade 10: Salary in the range of £58,284 – £67,541 per annum

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for Head of Clinical Trial Statistics and CTU Associate Director at the Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit (OCTRU), a leading fully UKCRC registered academic clinical trials unit (CTU). OCTRU is co-located within the Centre for Statistics in Medicine in its host department of the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) based at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford.

    As Head of Clinical Trial Statistics and CTU Associate Director at OCTRU you will assist in the development and submission of grant proposals to major national and international funding agencies and provide expert advice on statistical methods including study design and planned analyses. You will also oversee the statistical aspects of the CTU provided randomisation service, providing advice on the methodology and platforms to be used and oversee the timely delivery of preparation of statistical analysis plans, primary analyses by the Statistical group taking full responsibility for timely, high quality data analyses and data integrity.

    This role is central to the strategic aspirations of the OCTRU and you will have the opportunity to help shape and develop the research and overall strategy of the CTU. You will lead, and help to grow, a group of researchers within the CTU conducting research and trial delivery in the broad area of Statistical Methodology. The post holder will be an Associate Director of the CTU and thereby a member of the senior leadership team of the CTU, and a voting member of the CTU Oversight Committee that includes all the clinical leads of the groups that make up the CTU. Suitably qualified individuals will be eligible to apply for the title of Associate Professor, through the University recognition of distinction process.

    You will have a PhD in Medical Statistics or equivalent and considerable experience working as a senior statistician preferably within an academic setting. You will also have extensive experience of statistical input into clinical research leading to publications and experience of conducting advanced statistical analysis such as multilevel modelling, imputation of missing data, bootstrapping, supported by a publication record. Experience of supervising trial statisticians and taking responsibility for their career progression is also essential. A record of research in the development of novel Statistical methodological approaches, and the potential to produce further work of high significance and impact is desirable.
    This is a full-time fixed term appointment for 5 years in the first instance.

    You will be based in the Botnar Research Centre but you may be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.

    The closing date for this position is 12 noon on Monday 6 March 2023.
    Interviews are expected to take place from Wednesday 15 March 2023 to Friday 17 March 2023.
